The Manifesto of Aeneas’ Route

Charter of Values of the Cultural Route

The words of Aeneas:

1 | The environment

I am the son of Venus and the shepherd Anchises. I was raised by the gods of the woods, the nymphs. Noble are the arts that nourish people. Let us protect nature and its wonders.

2 | The city

I worship my city, dear to the gods, and its people.

3 | Exile

The world has made me an exile. My city is destroyed. It’s time to leave, let’s set out.

4 | The journey

Uncertain is the journey in search of a new city. We sail on the woods of the sacred Mount Ida.

5 | Water and the sea

By sea the gods drove us. Expertise and courage sustained us. Water marked the path and the arrival point.

6 | The meeting

I have met many people: who have welcomed me, whom I have recognised, whom I have helped.

7 | Arts and games

Splendid are the arts that forge beauty. With games we celebrate peace and affection.

8 | The future

We found cities that will make children great and prosperous in peace.

9 | Reconciliation

The gods drove us to war. Comrades and enemies are brothers in pain and need.

10 | Family and home

With us the family, and the Palladium on our journey around the world. We guard the sacred fire of the city and of the affections, protector of the home.
