DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNICATION AND SOCIAL RESEARCH, SAPIENZA UNIVERSITY OF ROME
The Department of Communication and Social Research (CORIS) of Sapienza University of Rome carries out teaching and research activities. It was created in 2010, resulting from the merger of the Departments of Social Research and Sociological Methodology (RISMES) and Sociology and Communication (DISC). The latter, in turn, is in continuity with the scientific space of the Institute (later Department) of Sociology, founded by Franco Ferrarotti fifty years ago.
The intertwining of communicative knowledge and social research characterises the scientific path and the educational offer of media and technology studies at Sapienza University of Rome.
The Department promotes and coordinates teaching and research activities in the various areas of sociology, humanities, and media studies, achieving high-level results both nationally and internationally.
The Department employs 76 full professors and 20 technical and administrative staff.
Since 2010, the Department has been part of the Faculty of Political Science, Sociology and Communication of Sapienza University of Rome.
